We knew when we met Lisa and James for coffee for the first time together that their love was anything but ordinary. And we think that everyone else knew it too. It was in the quiet ways they loved each other that made it so special and endearing, and so it was only appropriate that their wedding was just as unique and beautiful as their love for one another.
Their wedding affair started off early that day. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the celebration began with a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony, where Lisa wore an intricately sewn ao dai dress. The ceremony took place in front of the bride’s ancestor’s altar and it was every bit emotional as it was beautiful. Their parents gave advice on marriage and family, and each and every moment was filled with earnest love.
Following that was another meaningful celebration. This time it took place at their church, where more friends and family gathered and witnessed them say their vows and commit to forever. There was laughter and there were tears, and it touched everyone’s heart in a way that was hard to describe.
Lisa and Jame’s wedding was beautiful not because it fit the idea of what magazines say a wedding should be like, but because it perfectly suited them. It fused their Vietnamese culture with Western traditions, they took a laid back approach (James wore nikes down the aisle), and dinner was an elaborate and delicious 8-course meal (that left everyone stuffed and satisfied, us included!). And most importantly, they were surrounded by the people who mean the most to them. Anyone who was lucky to attend would agree it was an unforgettable celebration!
Many thanks to the creative team who made the wedding so special…
